By Chief Haydn Marriott
February 21, 2023

Skippack Fire Company and Skippack EMS were dispatched to a vehicle rescue at 09:23 hours on Tuesday. Chief 86 arrived on scene first to find a dump truck up an embankment and off into the woods on Route 73 near Kerr Road. Crews were able to quickly extricate the driver after removing the driver's side door and lots of tree debris. Trees and parts of the truck were then cut and moved so the tow companies could complete a complicated removal of the truck from its elevated resting place. Route 73 was closed for over 5 hours. Towamencin Fire Company and Harleysville Community Fire Company were initially dispatched to assist with the rescue but were recalled after the patient was removed from the truck. SFC would like to extend a special Thank You to Fire Police from Worcester Volunteer Fire Company and Harleysville Community Fire Company who assisted with keeping the road closed during the event.
