Skippack Fire Company was dispatched on the first call of 2021 on Monday (1-4-2021)afternoon at 16:44, in the 1100 block of Collegeville Road. The call from the Montgomery County Emergency Operations Center reported a vehicle into a tree with the driver unable to get out. Chief 86 arrived on the scene at 16:47 and reported no rescue, but that the driver was still in the vehicle and injured.

Squad 86 arrived on the scene at 16:50 and worked to stabilize the vehicle and remove the passenger door of the van to assist Skippack Emergency Medical Services with patient removal and packaging. Skippack Emergency Medical Services Chief 336 requested that a helicopter be put on standby and then the fly. Ladder 86 handled the landing zone, establishing LZ86 behind the firehouse (near the training grounds). JeffSTAT 2 handled the fly and transported the patient.

After the patient was in the hands of EMS, Skippack Fire crews worked to clean up debris from the roadway and yard of the residence the van came to rest in. Before striking the tree and coming to a stop, the van jumped a curb, hit a fire hydrant, and struck two separate sections of multiple feet of fencing.

Skippack Fire Company units on scene included the: Chief and Deputy Chief, Squad (with the Battalion Chief and Lieutenant), Special Service (with the Assistant Chief), and Ladder 86.

The Pennsylvania State Police are handling the crash investigation.

All Skippack Fire Company crews returned to the station by 18:05.
