Snow is on its way

January 21, 2026

While we’re not sure exactly how much snow to expect, it sounds like winter weather will be here this weekend. Here’s how you can help keep our community safe:

Clear Around Fire Hydrants
Please make sure all fire hydrants in your area have 3 feet of clearance on all sides. The second photo shows why this is so important for emergency access.

Grab a shovel and check the hydrants near your home—on both sides of the street and to the left and right of your home—so we can reach them quickly if needed.

How Does SFC Prepare for a Snowstorm?
We might take several steps to be ready, including: adding chains to truck tires, loading up extra shovels and salt to help EMS move patients or even having a standby crew at the station to respond to calls during the storm.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
