| Skippack firefighters missed their extra hour of sleep this morning as they were dispatched to a townhouse fire on Muhlenberg Drive just after 2 am. The Squad 86 crew worked on fire suppression, ladders, and overhaul, while Ladder 86 flowed additional water for fire suppression. During the overhaul phase, fire was found deep within the building requiring Ladder 86, the longest ladder on scene, to be moved to the front of the building to put out the remaining fire. Skippack crews returned to the station, cleaned all equipment and were back in service around 7 am.
Please make sure to change your smoke detector and CO alarm batteries today.
At 8 am Skippack joined other fire companies from throughout Montgomery County for a Large Diameter Hose (LDH) Strike Team drill held at the former Graterford prison grounds. LDH strike teams are a series of engines that move large quantities of water over long distances for major incidents. |
