Fire at Airport Hanger

April 24, 2024

Skippack Fire Company was dispatched to a fire in a hanger at the airport on Tuesday evening. The first arriving crew found an old hay pile that was on fire on one end of the mostly empty hanger. Crews doused the fire with water and dismantled the pile with hand tools until a Skippack Township loader arrived on scene. Using the loader the hay pile was further dismantled and doused with additional water. Skippack Fire Company would like to thank Perkiomen Township Fire Company, Lower Providence Fire Company, Collegeville Fire Company, Skippack Emergency Medical Services and the Skippack Township Public Works for their assistance at this incident. We responded back out to the hanger this morning to wet down the smoldering pile of hay again. All of the buildings on the property are in the process of being torn down and the runway is being removed as well for a new development.
