| At about 6:30 on Wednesday morning Ladder 86 was called to Montgomery township to stand by at their station and cover the area due to the large clubhouse fire at Neshaminy Falls. During their 4 hours in service they responded to one fire alarm in that area. Next, around 1 pm, a small fire was reported on Bridge Rd north of Skippack Village, which was quickly extinguished before any major damage occurred to the house. A motorcycle and Jeep accident followed around 4:30 pm near Perkiomen Creek Rd and Skippack Pike. The last call of the day was around 5:45 pm where Skippack firefighters responded as a RIT crew (standing by for firefighter rescue) at a 6-unit dwelling fire on 2nd Ave in Royersford. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke at ground level and much of the building on fire. Wind gusts increased the rate of fire spread throughout the entire structure as firefighters from the area worked to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the neighboring buildings. Skippack firefighters assisted in throwing additional ladders on the building, removing fencing and stood by as two separate RIT crews in the front and back of the building until they were released around 9:30 pm when the fire was placed under control. |
