SFC Water Rescue Drill One Year after Hurricane Ida

September 2, 2022

Skippack firefighters were joined by Collegeville and Harleysville for water rescue training at Lock 60 in Upper Providence using our ASR boat. We practiced moving as a team in the water and transporting people across the river both on the boat and through the water. As we put on dry suits we talked about how busy we were one year before with many water rescues and other storm-related issues from Hurricane Ida. The training night had an exciting end as dozens of European Hornets were attracted to the lights of our squad and took up occupancy in many compartments and the truck cab. Fortunately we left most of them behind in the park.
