| Skippack Fire Company was dispatched to assist Station 74 for a commercial building fire at the JP Mascaro and Sons facility at 109 Wile Road, in Franconia Monday morning at 07:47. Squad 86 (with the Assistant Chief), Tanker (with the Captain) and Utility 86 responded on the box. The initial call for service at 07:19 reported trash on fire inside the building. First arriving units reported heavy smoke and fire from the building.
The Squad 86 crew assisted with initial fire attack upon their arrival on scene. The initial operation was fought from the interior of the structure, but later transitioned to remove the burning trash with loaders and extinguish burning materials outside in the parking lot area. This was a long and time consuming process. The structure itself sustained moderate heat and smoke damage.
Squad 86 was moved into the water supply operation and served as the dump site engine on side "a" of the structure. Tanker 86 operated in the tanker shuttle throughout the operation. The Utility manpower assisted with the dump site water supply operation also. Command placed the fire under control at 14:13.
No injuries were reported in the extended operation to Skippack crews. All Station 86 crews went available as they were released by Command 74. All Skippack units were available by 14:54. |
