Skippack Fire Company was dispatched to assist Station 76 Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company Monday at 11:45. The call for service in the 2600 block of Hedrick Road in Towamencin reported a garage fire with extension to the house after a smoker exploded.

Chief 86 arrived on scene with heavy fire from the open garage door of a single family dwelling and assumed command. The homeowner stated all occupants were out of the house and accounted for.

Tanker 86 (with the Battalion Chief and Lieutenant) arrived on scene as the first responding piece of apparatus. The crew went into service and led off with 2- 2" attack lines to knock down fire. Ladder 86 arrived next and was positioned on the side street to not block the tanker shuttle route. Attack lines from Tanker 86 were transferred to Ladder 86 so Tanker 86 could shuttle water.

Chief 76 arrived on scene and assumed command from Chief 86. Chief 86 transitioned to
water supply officer. Squad 86 established tanker fill site on Kerr off of Route 73.

Additional units from Skippack Fire Company assisting on scene included the Deputy Chief, Special Service (with the Assistant Chief and Captain) and Utility 86. In all, 27 firefighter from Skippack Fire Company assisted Station 76 on scene. All personnel assisted with fire extinguishment and overhaul. 86 units were released by Chief 76 at 14:14.

Special thanks to Pennsburg Squad 65 for filling in at our station and helping get our equipment and trucks available for the next alarm, as we returned to the station.
