Thank you to the Kelly Family and our brothers and sisters at the Worcester Volunteer Fire Department for allowing us to honor Past Chief Kelly with you late last week. Our thoughts and prayers remain with you all.

From Station 83:

It is with deep sadness that the Worcester Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of former Fire Chief Jack Kelly. Jack served as Fire Chief from 1965-1967 and again from 1969-1984, making him the second longest tenured member in WVFD history to hold the title of Fire Chief.

Jack was a fixture in the Worcester community, having served as a Township Supervsior and Public Works employee in addition to his service with the Fire Department, which he became a Life Member of in 1989. Jack was instrumental in helping us expand our old firehouse and assisting with the department acquiring its first ever ladder truck. In a news article, current Trustee Chairman Paul Wickersham was once quoted saying “Jack Kelly is the one man you would want with you inside a burning building”.

Our thoughts go out to his wife, Carolyn, and the rest of the Kelly family during this difficult time. Jack was followed into the fire service by his son, John, and grandson, Leigh. Both are Worcester and Skippack firemen.

Many people significantly benefitted from Jack’s lifelong service to this township, and we are grateful for his contributions to our organization and community. Rest easy, Chief.
