Apartment Building Fire in Skippack

Skippack Fire Company training night was cut short Thursday evening as a call for service came in at 20:06, reporting a residential structure fire in the township. Skippack firefighters were busy training on vehicle rescue techniques when the box for 4420 Skippack Pike Apartment A came in reporting smoke from the eves. Skippack Chief 86 arrived on scene at 20:08 and confirmed smoke showing and established 86 Command.

Squad 86 (with the Captain and Lieutenant) arrived on scene at 20:10 and stretched a line to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire. The fire was declared under control by command at 20:26. Crews were able to limit the fire spread to the apartment of origin. Little to no smoke or water damage was realized in any of the other apartment units.

In addition to the Chief and Squad, Skippack Fire Company units on the box included the Deputy, Ladder (with the Battalion), Tanker, Utility and Special Service (with the Assistant) 86. Assisting on scene were; Skippack Emergency Medical Services, Harleysville Fire Company, Lower Frederick Fire Company, Lower Providence Fire Department, Worcester Volunteer Fire Department.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

All crews were available by 21:23.
