By Assistant Chief Keith Grierson
April 15, 2020

Since last month the Skippack Fire Company has been operating on a modified level of activity due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Essentially, all activity apart from emergency response and critical support needs to the overall operation of our organization have stopped.

We have received requests to participate in “drive-by” celebrations, or parades of vehicles celebrating birthdays or other types of events. Although we recognize that some organizations are doing these types of activities; The Skippack Fire Company will not be offering Birthday/Celebration "drive-bys". Our only priority, during this time, is providing emergency response (fire, rescue and EMS) to Skippack Township and our mutual aid partners.

Our members continue to respond to every call. With the COVID virus, this puts us at added risk every time we pull out of the station. To have our men and women do more than that, unnecessarily puts us in harm's way.

ALL Company activities (training, meetings, work sessions, large group gatherings, etc.) have again been cancelled. We are adhering to the governor’s “stay at home " executive order in our ongoing effort to keep our members healthy and to be ready for the next call for service.

As we work to keep our organization operational we have and continue to find new and innovative ways to:

-keep each member safe and healthy
-keep each members family safe and healthy
-keep members engaged and ready to respond to the next alarm from a training and preparedness standpoint
-address day to day business needs
-stay in touch with and communicate with our community

We understand how difficult it can be to celebrate during this unprecedented time and certainly look forward to this crisis coming to an end, so we can once again be a large community presence. Thank you for your understanding, as always we appreciate your support. Stay home...safe and healthy.
