Skippack Fire Company was dispatched as an automatic mutual aid response with Station 83- Worcester Fire Department early this morning for a shed on fire in the rear of a residence in the 3100 block of Skippack Pike.

Crews were dispatched at 00:30 on the structure box. Response to the job from Station 86 included: Chief, Deputy, Squad (with the Battalion and Captain), Ladder (with the Lieutenant) and Utility (with the Assistant) 86.

Chief 83 went on location at 00:35 and reported a intermodal container on fire with no exposures.

An intermodal container is a large standardized shipping container, designed and built for intermodal freight transport, meaning these containers can be used across different modes of transport – from ship to rail to truck – without unloading and reloading their cargo. In this case, the container was used for storage and work area.

Skippack crews assisted with extinguishment and overhaul of the unit. Crews returned to the station in just over an hour.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
