Skippack Fire Sends Man To Hospital

A fire Monday morning in Skippack sent one man to the hospital with injuries from the blaze. Skippack Fire Company was dispatched to a structure fire at 10:07 yesterday in the 1000 block of Bridge Road in the township. Initial reports stated a house was on fire, with a male resident self-extricated in the front yard with burns. Chief 86 arrived on scene at 10:09 and reported a working fire in a single family residence. Engine 86 arrived on scene a short while later and made an initial knock on the bulk of the fire blowing out the front of the residence with the deck gun as handlines were stretched and put into service. Crews were hampered by live powerlines down in the homes front yard for a short time until PECO arrived and controlled the power.

Chief 86 reported the bulk of the fire was knocked down and crews were in the overhaul stage at 10:34. The fire was declared under control at 11:01. Crews assisting Skippack Fire Company units on scene at with covers included: Skippack Emergency Medical Services, Harleysville Area EMS, Trappe Fire Company Ambulance, Collegeville Fire Company, Harleysville Fire Company, Lower Frederick Fire Company, Lower Providence Fire Company, Norriton Fire Engine Company, Perkiomen Township Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Trappe Fire Company, Worcester Fire Company and the Pennsylvania State Police.

Skippack Fire Company units on scene included; Chief, Deputy, Engine, Squad, Special Service, Tanker and Utility 86.

Skippack Emergency Medical Services transported one occupant of the home to the hospital with burn injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. All units were made available by 12:48.
