Skippack Fire Company has begun a two year transition to new fire helmets for company fire fighters. The current edition of NFPA standard 1971, (2007) which covers structural and proximity PPE, including helmets, requires all PPE to be replaced every 10 years. SFC will be moving away from the Cairns helmets that have long been used in the fire company. New Bullard helmets have begun to be put into service. These new helmets should serve us well for the next ten years.
