Two children were killed in the house fire in Schwenksville, state police confirm

State Police confirmed, two children were killed this morning in a house fire in Schwenksville and three others injured. The original call for service from the Montgomery County Communication Center for the Lower Frederick Fire Company came in at 05:09 for a house on fire in the 900 block of Summit Avenue. Initial reports stated children were trapped inside the home. The fire was well involved as crews arrived on scene. Skippack Fire Company was dispatched to assist on the working structure fire at 05:12 as the RIT. Chief, Deputy, Rescue and Utility 86 responded on the job.

Several occupants of the home were transported to area hospitals for injuries sustained trying to exit the structure and getting family members out of the building. Command reported the bulk of the fire was knocked down at 06:35, with extensive overhaul necessary. Two pet dogs were also reported to be unaccounted for. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Skippack Fire Company crews returned to the station at 10:31, as they were released by Command.
