Fire Investigations after Storms |
| August 6, 2026 | |
| Skippack firefighters responded to two fire investigations following last night's storm. The first incident involved an apparent lightning strike on Liberty Road in Skippack at 9:26 p.m. on Wednesday night. Fire investigations are typically initiated when someone reports the smell of smoke or burning electrical odors, but no visible fire is present. The call on Liberty Road revealed one house with significant structural damage and electrical damage as well as multiple homes with some tripped breakers, burnt out lights, and burnt up surge protectors. Perkiomen Township Fire Company assisted in searching for any evidence of heat or fire during the investigation. Skippack firefighters were on scene until approximately 11:00 p.m.. The second occurred on Trappe Road in Perkiomen at 5:20 a.m. on Thursday morning. We assisted Perkiomen with tracking down an electrical issue that ended up being caused by a tree coming down and cutting one of the wires feeding the house. |
