In 1976, we found that the
Hale truck we had sold to Hale Fire Pump Company in 1958 was
still in the area and was for sale. We purchased it for $800
with the hope of someday restoring it to its
original condition. The truck was in many pieces and had to
be towed to the firehouse.
We established funding for the Hale from special services we
do from time to time such as
washing down roads for contractors, testing pipes, pumping
cellars, or putting up banners. We got
serious about the restoration project in 1997 and we set a
goal for ourselves to be finished in time for
our centennial in 1999.
Paul Jueros of Pennsburg rebuilt the engine. Ott’s Auto
Refinishing in Salfordville had done
most of the metal body work and painting. The members of the
fire company have spent more than
3,000 man-hours refinishing and assembling the other parts
including replacing most of the wood on the
vehicle because the original wood had rotted away. We have
totally restored our 1926 pumper and it is
on display for everyone to see. Some of our restoration
activity is shown in the pictures below. Restoration
